With HTML5 generating plenty of buzz as the next big thing to happen to web development, and with video becoming an increasing part of our online experience, this post will combine the best of both the worlds and survey the top-10 video players that use HTML5 functionality to provide a whole new level of experience for the user.

One of the most exciting features of this upcoming Hypertext Markup Language standard is the newly introduced ‘video’ tag which makes the need for additional plug-ins to play videos redundant. This has made it possible for developers to craft very cool JavaScript-based video players that require no additional plug-ins, load faster than Flash, are skinnable and offer a host of other nifty features.

Will HTML5 change the face of the Internet by ending the domination of Flash? Well, we may have to wait a bit longer to answer that.  In the meantime, why not find out which video players made it to the top-10?
