Even though 2009 left a bad taste in the mouth with low consumer confidence, high unemployment rates, and the inflicting recession, eCommerce overcame all of this with a growth rate of 11 per cent. A better performance has been predicted by a leading research firm not just for 2010 but for the next few years as well.

“U.S. Online Retail Forecast 2009 to 2014”, a report released by Forrester Research, talks about online shopping in the year that was, and about the promises eCommerce holds for the next four years or so. The report reveals 154 million people have bought items on the web in 2009. This figure accounts for 67% of total online users! Forrester says that this is just a beginning; online retail sales are predicted to grow at a rate of 10% per year for the next 4 years. That sees a staggering $249 billion worth of online spending by 2014.
