Ad rates for PCs and mobiles are on a cost-per-click basis. Till now mobile ad rates have been lesser than desktop PCs but Google Engineering Vice President Vic Gundotra has reason to believe that they would surpass PCs in the future.
Mobile phone ad rates are on the rise, due to increase in the popularity of smartphones. Phone users use it mostly for tasks like search, which is where Google profits. Google’s acquisition of AdMob gives it 21% control of the mobile ad market.
