Gartner, a research and advisory company has released a report on the analysis of smartphone sales for the first quarter of 2010. The quarter saw the strongest year-on-year increase in smartphone sales since 2006. This growth is a good opportunity for companies that deal with mobile application development for smartphones as they can continue to cater to the ever increasing demand for mobile apps, mobile websites, and mCommerce systems.
Symbian devices ruled the market with a 44.3% market share. Research In Motion (RIM) is in second place with only a 19.4% market share. Apple has a 15.4% market share with Android in fourth place with a 9.6% market share.
